| GTAH joins with Dr. Julius Garvey, Son of the late Marcus Garvey, Councilman Larry Seabrook of the Bronx, Consul General of Jamaica, Genevieve Brown-Metzger, Sidique Wai, President of the United African Congress, and Ron Daniels, amongst other luminaries in a ceremony to rename the four corners of Gun Hill Road and White Plans Road in the Bronx as “Marcus Garvey Square”. It is a way of acknowledging the great leadership of Marcus Garvey as it pertains to promoting self–help for Africans and people of the African Diaspora, the necessity to strive for economic improvement and economic independence and the unification of Africa as the means by which we may realize the full and rich potential of the Continent. | |||

| Interesting at first, the little kids crept closer to the container to see what we (the Gringos) were doing. Then they came in. They were followed by two older boys who just began to work very hard. They were then followed by some older girls. They were such a lovely and loving family but unless there is a way for them to find opportunities for advancement, including education and jobs, the cycle of subsistence living might still continue into the next generation. We hope to give them a hand. | |||
